Monhegan Fleet updates
2300 - Chicama is working slowly towards the finish while Abigail Lisa has rounded East Cod Ledge and is moving towards the finish at 7 knots. Maybe they will run into the light air ahead?
1930 - Veladare, Juliett & Delja finished in the past half hour. Abigail Lisa is charging down the course towards the finish with 24 miles to go, Chicama is south of Seguin and looks like they just hit the light air, they have 14 miles to go.
17:52:01 - Tamarack finished the Monhegan Island Course - first Class B boat to finish. Velvadare, Juliett and Delja all within 5 miles of the finish.
17:39:57 - Heat Wave finished the Monhegan Island Course.

1600 - Wild Blue has rounded East Cod Ledge and is on their way to the finish line. Meanwhile the shore crew is off to get some pizza for the early finishers! Heat Wave has just passed Tamarack and has about 10 miles to go. Veladare is leading a trio of Juliett and Delja, Chicama is nearing Seguin while Abigail Lisa is closing in on Monhegan.
1430 - Wild Blue is about 16 miles away. Tamarack & Heat Wave are about 6-8 miles behind. Everyone in Class A & B have rounded Monhegan and are headed back. Abigail Lisa is about ½ way to Monhegan.
1000 - Wild Blue is the first to round the Monhegan turning mark! They are headed to the finish!
0930 - Wild Blue is taking the harbor tour up at Manana, getting in nice and close to check out the view. It looks like the wind has gone to the N or NE up there and is around 5 knots, maybe less at times. Heat Wave’s inside track has left them about 6 miles behind Wild Blue. They might have a better angle on Tamarack, who is heading in while the rest are heading out (all things being relative) and Abigail Lisa is still moving along on the rhumb line about 1/3 of the way to Monhegan.
0600 - Sunrise over Seguin & Monhegan - that’s the view for Heat Wave as they are heading almost directly at the mark this morning, however Wild Blue has continued to rumble on the rhumb line and is leading with greater speed right now, the race is on! Tamarack fell back a little bit, but is leading their class and may be in the mix for the overall trophy. There is a lot of race course left. Juliett and Veledare have picked up some speed and are trailed a bit by Delja & Chicama. All are heading more or less towards the mark. Abigail Lisa got the sunrise at Boon Island, must have been a stunning sight! Should be a great morning out on the water, how long will the breeze hold in this direction before it swings back to the South. Right now winds are WSW 4 knots at Boon & off Cape Elizabeth, and 2 knots up near Monhegan. It will be a trick to manage the transition into the lighter breeze and what comes afterwards. We are expecting a shift to the NE and then SE and finally S and for the breeze to build, but when???
0300 - Inside vs Outside - Heat Wave has taken the inside route while Wild Blue & Tamarack have stayed outside the rhumb line. Winds near Boon Island are 6 knots SW have switched from SSW, off Cape Elizabeth it is 6 knots WSW, while down at Monhegan it is showing 10 knots SW. Will there be a northerly shift as some models are predicting? The Monhegan A & B boats are hitting the halfway mark here in the middle of the night. Abigail Lisa is approaching Boon Island now.
2215 - Heat Wave rounding Boon Island. Wild Blue & Tamarack within 2 miles, the rest of the fleet about 5 miles back. Wind still arond 14 knots from the S. Not bad… now on to Monhegan!
1915 - The buoy near Boon Island is showing 12 knots from the S, near Cape Elizabeth it is 10 at SSW, and down by Monhegan we are seeing 8 knots SSW.
1511 - And they are off! With a nice 8-10 knots from the SSW the fleet started out of the Hussey Sound on their way to Boon Island. We started with a 19 boat Monhegan fleet and then various factors led to the whittling away of that group until there was 10 as of first thing Friday morning. Pizzazz!decided to move over to the Seguin fleet, and after starting Temptress ripped their mainsail and were forced to retire.
