The fleet is growing - 10 boats entered to date!
We just opened up the entries for the 95th Monhegan Island Race and Seguin Sprint and interest is growing. We have some returning boats, looking to improve on last year’s event, and we have some boats new to the race.
New to the fleet is Wind Chime, a 1984 vintage Bristol 35.5 which sails out of Peaks Island, ME. They have been cruising the Maine coast since 2007 with her, as far east as Roque Island. In 2023, she participated in the Marion Bermuda Race and placed second in their class.
Skipper Tom Greaves says “I’ve raced in the Seguin Sprint two times in the past on Steve Clayman's Sephina and always had a great time. My friend Jack Savage still regales us with tales about his epic race on Perpetuity a couple of years back.
I look forward to getting to the start line with my friends and the night sailing back to the finish. The race is a great excuse to share the magic of sailing with my friends.”
Peter Rahn is racing Seguin on Black Mallard, an Alden Challenger and is looking forward to this as a warm up for the 2027 Monhegan.
Longtime competitors Geoff Emmanuel & Bob Kellogg have registered Tamarack, a Baltic Farr 44, most recently the winner on the Seguin course in 2025 and the Monhegan course in 2021. Tamarack is a well known name, having been on different hulls throughout the years and collecting plenty of hardware in this race!
John Wilkinson’s Wild Blue will be back in Monhegan after their dash to the onion patch in this year’s Newport to Bermuda Race. They got line honors in 2024 on the Monhegan course. They have been focusing on the bigger offshore events, and with Marblehead to Halifax last year the crew should be a well oiled offshore machine by the time Monhegan rolls around. This may be the year they captures it all!
Veladare is back, John Myles and crew on their C&C 42 will be defending their overall win on the Monhegan course. Can they repeat?
David Ruff & Jane Wellehan will be out on their 36.7 Go Dog Go and should be challenging the podium on the Seguin course. High Energy, Bip Nixon’s Diva 39 looks to repeat in Seguin B.
