Spring is in the air! How is the to-do list coming?
Yesterday I walked outside and felt the warm breeze on my face, sunshine and the smell of spring time. I was transported to the cockpit of my boat, sailing in August, enjoying the run back to Portland Head Light at the end of the Monhegan. That got me to thinking about my boat project list as I get her ready for the season. For me it is a new bilge pump, a bit of work on deck hardware, and the usual maintenance.
I recently saw this article in the J boats newsletter and thought it had some good points to share. While most of the teams in Monhegan are not professional, they are all looking to improve their performance every year. Thinking about how to setup the boat for the best performance and maximize your boats potential is always worth a thought.
We recently published a bullet pointed summary of the NOR. While we have a lot of details in the NOR that are required by the rules, most of the time I talk to sailors, they don’t bother to read them. We figured a short and concise summary might make sure that everyone gets to the starting line prepared.
Speaking of the starting line, we are looking forward to another great Monhegan event. The bands are booked, the trackers are ordered and we are working on the details of the 95th Monhegan Island Race. We hope you will join us for this classic Maine sailboat race!
